Restaurant Replenishment Buyers
Grab some fun and festive decorations for your room and turn up the music. Each student will need the handouts provided. Inform them they have been hired as restaurant replenishment buyers for local Mexican restaurants. Separate students into restaurant groups in order to solve decimal word problems together. Totals for each item should be written on the purchase order form provided. To add extra fun, provide tables with tortilla chips to munch on while they work. They LOVE it and take such ownership of this practice!

Classroom Courtroom
Use these slides as an interactive way to practice math skills with your class. Slides include practice with decimals, exponents, and simple expressions. Number your students and have one student come up at a time to make the court room feel real. Looping “The People’s Court” background music on YouTube is also a great idea. The class should have a way to record their thoughts: guilty or innocent. If found guilty, they must correct the defendant’s claim.

Air Traffic Control Operators
Teaching kids that mathematic and scientific skills are used in everyday jobs is essential. Use this activity for practice with order of operations, as well as force and motion in science. Kids become air traffic control operators! Transform your room by giving each student a name tag, set of headphones, and a tracking handout. Students solve problems to decide which controller will correctly release the plane for take-off.
